Hope Deferred
In prison, inmates are surrounded by some of the worst evils in the world. Hope is often lost, and despair and depression set in. Inmates are faced with ongoing violence, anger, hatred, strife, deceit, sexual immorality & assault, pornography, and all sorts of evil.
Many inmates hit rock bottom while in prison. At this juncture, the heart is open and the eyes and ears are ready to receive. This is a time where real change can occur. But unfortunately, darkness and evil tends to be the only direction they see. What if they saw hope? What if they received a Bible?
For just $25/mo, you can change 12 lives this year by helping a prisoner come in direct contact with their Lord and Savior through the Word of God.
When you give $25/month for a Bible, your gift reaches first into the prison, and then outside the walls of the prison, to his family. Your gift helps reduce the statistical chance of his son or daughter going to prison by approximately 300 percent.
“The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas…and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house…then immediately he and all his family were baptized.”
– Acts 16:29-33
Sean, Incarcerated in Colorado
I wanted to let you know I received my beautiful Bible. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to all of us incarcerated. As Jesus said in Matthew 25, In as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me. May God continue to bless all of you at HEART of America as you continue to reach out and touch the world with the love of Jesus.
It begin to thank you for this beautiful Bible. I love it! And I really love the historical notes and the way it is illustrated through and through. This may sound crazy, but I think it means more to me because of the wait. I don’t know, but it seems almost like I grew into it. Please let the people whose donations and time were spent making this possible know that I really appreciate it and that I will be adding them to my prayer list. I hope one day to be able to help someone the way you have helped me, not only with this Bible, but also with your letters over the years. You have given me a great gift.
I was placed in the AR prison system for selling meth. I was crushed and very depressed. The thought of being away from my family, especially around the holidays, was a lot to bare. The first month of intake, you are in a single man cell in complete solitude. The only reading material allowed is a Bible. As I started reading, something drove me to focus on the New Testament. Being Christmas, it felt right to have a better understanding of Jesus. It ended up being the best Christmas I have ever had because I spent it with Jesus, just me and him. It was the first time in my life that I could hear God speaking to my heart, and I’ve had Him there ever since.
